Your Privacy Matters to Us

This policy describes what dawaBook collects, why, and what choices you have. It applies to the dawaBook mobile app, used by retailers and wholesalers, and to the dawaBook website.

dawaBook (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates a directory that helps retail chemists (“retailers”) find pharmaceutical wholesalers (“wholesalers”) who deal in a given medicine, and helps wholesalers be found by retailers. This policy covers the dawaBook mobile app and the dawaBook website (together, the “Platform”) and explains what we collect from each type of user, why, and what you can do about it.

dawaBook does not show live stock or prices, and it does not process payments between a retailer and a
wholesaler for medicines themselves. Keep this in mind as you read what follows — several sections describe collecting information only for the purpose of the directory and contact functions the app actually provides.

From every user
  • Mobile phone number — this is how you sign in. We verify it with a one-time code sent by SMS.
  •  Optionally, if you choose to use it, basic profile information from Google Sign-In.
If you register as a retailer
  •  Shop name, owner name, shop address, area, and city.
  • Drug licence number — required at registration.
  • GST number — optional.
If you register as a wholesaler
  •  Firm name, owner name, full address, area, and city.
  •  Contact numbers — you may list more than one, and may designate a separate number to receive WhatsApp messages if it differs from your sign-in number.
  • Drug licence number and GST number. Your listing is not shown to retailers until we have verified this
    information.
  • Year your firm was established, and your shop’s business hours, if you choose to provide them.
  • A photograph of your shop, and optionally a photograph of the owner, if you choose to upload one. Both are optional and neither is required to complete registration.
Information created by using the Platform
  • Search terms you enter, so the app can show you results and (for retailers) track your remaining free
    searches during your trial period.
  • Which wholesalers you view, call, or message through the app, and which retailers contact a given wholesaler — we keep a record of these contacts because it is what allows a retailer to leave a review only for a wholesaler they have actually been in touch with.
  • Purchase requests (“indents”) you prepare in the app. An indent is a draft message listing medicines and quantities that you choose to send to one wholesaler over WhatsApp. dawaBook does not see the reply and is not part of the conversation that follows — we only keep a record that you prepared and sent the request.
  • Ratings and written reviews you leave for a wholesaler you have contacted, and any reply the wholesaler posts.
  • Reports you submit about a wholesaler listing (for example, a wrong number or a closed shop).
Information we do not collect, or do not show

WHAT DAWABOOK DOES NOT DO

dawaBook does not use cookies or website tracking technology of the kind used for advertising, since the app is what most people use — the website is limited to basic information about the service. dawaBook does not show retailers the price (MRP) of any medicine. Manufacturer price data is used internally only, to help match the same medicine correctly when it is listed by more than one wholesaler. dawaBook does not show live stock levels. A wholesaler appearing against a medicine means they have told us they deal in it — not that a specific quantity is available right now. dawaBook does not process any payment for medicines, and takes no part in what a retailer and wholesaler agree between themselves.

To create and secure your account, and to verify wholesaler listings before they appear to retailers.

  • To operate the core function of the app — matching a retailer’s search to the wholesalers who deal in that medicine.
  • To let you contact a wholesaler by call or WhatsApp, and to prepare and send purchase requests.
  • To show you your own search, indent, and review history within the app.
  • To enforce the free-search allowance and, once available, to process a paid subscription for continued
search access. See Section 7 on payments.
  • To investigate reports of an incorrect or fraudulent listing, and to moderate reviews for abuse.
  •  To send you account-related messages — such as your verification code, confirmation your wholesaler listing is approved, or a notice that your free trial is ending. We do not currently send promotional or marketing messages; if this changes in future, this policy will be updated first and you will be able to opt out

We do not sell your personal information.

  •  A wholesaler’s business details — firm name, address, contact numbers, licence and GST numbers, ratings, and catalogue — are shown to retailers using the app, because that is the purpose of the directory. A retailer’s identity is shown to a wholesaler only when the retailer contacts them (their shop name appears with any call, WhatsApp message, indent, or review).
  • With service providers who help us run the Platform — for example, our SMS provider for login codes, and our hosting and image-storage providers. These providers only receive what they need to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
  •  If required by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

We take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information, including verifying every login with a one-time code and limiting each account to one active session at a time. That said, no method of storing or transmitting information online can be guaranteed completely secure.

  •  You can review and correct most of your profile information at any time from within the app.
  •  Changing a wholesaler’s drug licence, GST number, or firm name will return that listing to admin review
before it is shown to retailers again — this protects the accuracy of listings retailers rely on.
  •  You can request deletion of your account and data from within the app.
  • If you delete your account, any review you left, or was left about a wholesaler, may remain visible if removing it would make our records of a genuine transaction inaccurate for the other party — we will remove your name from it where possible.

Wholesaler listings are free, with no time limit. Retailers receive free search access for a limited introductory period from the date they register; a paid plan will be required to continue searching after that period. As of this version of the policy, dawaBook does not yet process any payment — no card or payment details are collected, and no charge can be made. This section will be updated, and you will be shown the change, before payment collection is introduced.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and meet legal obligations. Raw data submitted by wholesalers when building the shared medicine directory is retained even after an individual catalogue entry is edited or removed, because it may still be relevant to correctly identifying the same medicine from another wholesaler.

dawaBook  is a business-to-business tool intended for use by adults operating a retail or wholesale pharmacy business. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy as the app changes. If we make a significant change — particularly around payments, as noted in Section 7 — we will make that clear within the app rather than only updating this document silently.

VERIFY BEFORE PUBLISHING

Confirm the phone number above is a real, monitored line before this goes live anywhere permanent, including an app store listing. This document intentionally does not describe a marketing-communications opt-out or a cookiepreferences control, because neither currently exists in the app. Add them here only once they are actually built — stating a right that cannot currently be exercised is worse than omitting it.
